Simplified Duty Cycle Calculator, this spreadsheet is designed to be a starting point to help you build your own power requirements model for your equipment. During Episode 34 we looked at the basics of using a spreadsheet and writing forumulas. Those basic formulas created live during the show are contained in this workbook for your reference. The Simplified Duty Cycle Calculator is thus an example of how those general concepts can be applied to begin to invetigate a technical question such as how long will a particular radio system be able to operate using a battery of a specific size? These models contained in this workbook are designed to be a teaching and learning tool only, and thus offers an incomplete model of the complexity of the power usage and projected runtime of the equipment using battery power. This workbook has been designed to be a stating point for a simplified model of projected power usage and is indendent for the user to further develop and refine the model to meet their operating requirements. The model has not been proofed in the real world and should not be used to plan critical infrastructure.
